My Urban Decay collection, part 1

As I mentioned yesterday, Urban Decay is my favorite high-end brand. It's probably my favorite brand overall, because to date I have absolutely loved every product I've tried. UD was the makeup I dreamed of owning when I started getting into makeup, but since I had been finding all the amazing indie companies I loved, it seemed ridiculous to pay the prices. Luckily, Haute Look has Urban Decay on sale now and again, so almost all the UD I've ever had has been from there. Since I just got my Urban Decay order from Haute Look yesterday, I thought I would go ahead and show you my whole UD collection and share my thoughts. The pictures are all with flash in my bedroom, no natural light. It was really cloudy outside today. While the pictures may be really shadowy, they are very color accurate. I was most excited to get a 24/7 Set, "Stereophonic", because I had never tried a 24/7 liner. It's a great little set, with four 24/7 mini liners, and one glitter liner. I got it on Haute Look for... get this... $7. The pencils from left to right are Zero, Crash, Underground, Gunmetal, and the glitter liner is Midnight Cowboy. The 24/7 liners are as amazing as everyone says... the glitter liner is very coarse, you'd have to use it over a regular liner to make it look ok. It is nowhere near as good as my Collection 2000 Glam Crystals liners. I also love their liquid liner I have, in the shade Lucky. I think I paid $7 for this off Haute Look. I am AWFUL at liquid liner, but it's the easiest to apply I've ever used. It's expensive at $18, but in my opinion, you're getting the quality you pay for. I want to get Ecstasy, a gorgeous purple shade. I got the Big Buddha kabuki brush for $9. I haven't used it yet, but it is HUGE. UD Ultraglide glosses are my favorites glosses, even though the name sounds like it should be for tampons instead of lip gloss. I got Lust and Deep from Haute Look a while ago for $5 each. I somehow broke the applicator off of Deep as soon as I opened it. This time, I got Heat, and another Deep, for around $4 each. Guess what... this Deep's applicator popped off too. Weird, but I just squeezed it all out into some empty little containers so I can still use it. From left to right are Lust, Deep, and Heat. So broken :( I took more pictures than I thought I would, and there's a few things I forgot to photograph, so I decided to cut this up into 2 posts, and I'll get the second one done after I wake up. Also, if you didn't notice, there's some polls on the side- I can't decide which companies I want to try next, so you guys can decide for me :)

  1. I'm not good for applying liquid eyeliner too. I prefer Gel eyeliner. Big Buddha kabuki brush is somewhat cheap and I never seen such a HUGE brush!!!

  2. That brush is massive! I knew it was big but never that big.

I love their eyeshadows and currently have three, I keep saying I'm going to buy more but never get around to it.

If you have any, I would love you to add them to this series of posts.

  3. I'd heard about UD's Ultraglides containers being pretty cheaply made, and breaking on many people, so you're not the first. It's a shame, considered UD is so highly esteemed. You'd think they could get a strong enough container for their product. *sigh*

  4. I agree with @femputer, the Ultraglides are notorious for breaking on people. So don't go and carry one in your purse, it could be disastrous!

  5. Yay! I think their lipstick and 24/7 liners are my favorites. The Big Buddha brush is cool looking but it's hard to figure out what to use it for.

  6. I love the Urban Decay pencil liner in Zero. It is very creamy and has great pigmentation. The big brush is so cute!!!!

  7. Good to know that UD is occasionally on sale at Haute Look! I've tried Smog liquid liner (when Sephora had it on supersale for $7) and while I did love it, $17 seemed...a bit expensive.

  8. My last HauteLook order had some lip glosses and they did the same thing! That's a BIG BUDDAH BRUSH! lol

  9. I think the big buddha brush is for liberally smacking your face full of finishing powder? Although trying to dip it in a jar looks friggin impossible. Maybe for sparkling up collarbone? Just yesterday I was wishing I had a big ass brush for that reason, I'm doing my cousin's wedding makeup and want to make us sparkle but my powder brush be toooo small for that shit :(

  10. Love that you took advantage of that sale. Yeah, I only own UDPP and I love it... so I am thinking I want to try to the Glide On pencils and the Naked Palette next! Those are both so expensive... but eh - Christmas present to me!

  11. thanks for sharing! I really like Urban Decay, too. I do think they're super expensive, so it's just a once-in-awhile indulgence. However, I do have issues with them creating a lot of hype over their products and then making them almost unattainable. That pretty much pisses me off :P
I have the other mini liner set (the one that came out at the same time as your set) and I loooveee them :)

  12. Awesome collection! totally can't believe you got the mini liners for $7, such a bargain. I don't think I've ever tried an Urban Decay product I didn't like but to be honest I find it just a teensy bit too expensive so I'm usually happy to wait till my b'day or Christmas for a few products :)

Oh and the "lush" lip gloss looks great!

  13. I used to love Urban Decay years ago (when there was a Sephora within walking distance of my apartment), and then they fell off my radar for a while (when I wasn't wearing makeup regularly). I've recently rediscovered my love for them, so these posts are awesome! Thanks for the reviews, and I'll definitely have to pay more attention to Haute Look now - these are some great steals!

  14. LOL @ tampons.

I heart Urban Decay, even if I do only have the Alice BOS. Soon though, I'll have the Black Palette... Myyyyyy Pressssshious. The sets make so much more sense to me, financially.

  16. I did not know the Ultraglides were known for being poorly made, thanks for the info guys!

@MissTat: I don't think they're TOO bad about that, especially compared with MAC- MAC is just ridiculous.
