A look using the UD BoS III
This is a look I did sometime last week using my new Urban Decay Book of Shadows III. The pictures aren't the best because my camera was acting up and giving everything a sort of yellow cast, but you get the general idea!
I have placed an order with Killer Cosmetics, the winner of my upcoming review poll. Spell Cosmetics had the second most votes, but since they are closing, I'm not going to review them. The next two with the most votes were TKB and Silk Naturals, so I will be placing some orders with them shortly. I am leaving for Texas this Saturday and not coming back until next Wednesday, and I don't know how much I'll be posting while I'm gone. I have lots of things sitting around that I've had for so long but haven't reviewed, so I'll try to get those typed up before I leave.
I've only been on a plane when I was 8, so going and flying by myself, especially with my anxiety problems, is going to be extremely scary for me. Plus I have to switch flights a couple times, which will make it a million times worse. I know there are lots of rules about what you can take, so I'm worried about some of my makeup being confiscated. Does anyone have tips on what I should and shouldn't bring, cosmetics wise? Thank you!

I love the purple along the eyelashes, love how you blend all these colours together, looks really nice ! x
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the color combination. As far as your trip. Make sure you put any lip glosses or lipsticks in a quartz size storage bag, so they don't take them, or just put them in with your checked luggage. When we traveled I just used a quart size bag for my make-up bag. Just in case anything was iffy...They would have to fight me for my lippies, lol Have a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteoops...I guess I should proof read...quart, not quartz. lol
ReplyDeleteVery pretty look the the Urban Decay shadows. And you will be fine flying. Its really not that scary. I don't have any suggestions about what to take or not to take. If you are taking any products that you think are questionable, just make sure they go in your checked luggage!
ReplyDeleteI like the goldy bits!!
ReplyDeleteThey only opened my case once on my last plane ride and I wasn't allowed to bring my too faced setting spray (twas 118ml and over the 100ml limit)
Everything liquid (they make you bag up mascara also as liquid) has to fit into 1 ziplock and none of the items can be over 100ml. Also I kept my tweezers and brushes in my luggage under the plane so they couldn't be all "YOU WERE PLANNING IN BRUSHING SOMEONE TO DEATH WEREN'T YOU!?!"
Also, if it's a lockable traincase make sure you lock it for it to go through the rolly xray thing because if they are going to rummage through it to double check, they have no idea what side is up and I barely avoided that distaster back home. I was like slow motion "NOOOOOOOOOOO" as I slapped it shut and set it upright. Oh, but keep the key in the grey bin with it, maybe underneath the case, and just hope they don't clue in what it's for until you go through the airport scanner or you may have that disaster!! (hah! just typed "dis-tater") It's sort of a ninja thing. You need to time it just right.
But all this is unnecessary if it's not a train case I guess. But they'll still look if you have a redonkulous amount of makeup like me :D
Oh, and shove underwear or socks in it to keep everything in place, and not bouncing around.
And tape any eyeshadow/blush jars shut. That would be my number 1 tip, jars need to be taped. If it's loose powder, tape that baby up.
I lost a lot of limited edition pretty purple aromaleigh shadow alllll over my case because I forgot to tape a jar. They roll around even if you don't realize it, every.single.time. :(
Phew. I think I'm done rambling now.
Oh hahaha still not done, if you do have liquids bag-i-tized, pull that baggy out before locking your case up. They need the liquids separate to go through the scanner.
ReplyDeleteI like this look, love the colors.:D
ReplyDeleteDon't worry too much about flying: relax.:D
Don't bring any liquid, I always prefer cream foundation... and don't bring pigments, they can be really messy!:D
Have a safe trip!:D

Nothing liquid, period. I usually dont bring makeup with me on a plane anyway. I LOVE THE LOOK anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf you really need to, call the airline and check. But to be safe, nothing liquid! You'll be fine on the plane - I worry when I travel alone in case I get lost/abducted/travel sick over the poor unsuspecting soul sat next to me. But it gets easier!
ReplyDeleteLove the look, can't wait for the killer review!
I love the pale gold bits in the inner corners!
ReplyDeleteI fly often, and do not have any problems with my liquids. I bring a sandwich sized ziplock baggie for all liquid forms of makeup/hand sanitizer, etc. It is the standard size for liquid allotment, I believe. After security, I simply put the bag of liquid containers back into my carry on. I always travel with my makeup for refreshing prior to landing, and in case your luggage is late, or goes to a different location, you don't want to be sans makeup! Inside the bag, I would include forms of glosses, mascara, etc. I also bring "sample" baggies of eye color, instead of the larger jars. I find that for a vacation or short trip, this system works well. I also tend to pack solid shampoo (Lush sells great ones), and other solid forms of beauty, as to limit my overall liquid amount.
ReplyDeleteAct confident, and bring a good book and some tunes. Take a deep breath and enjoy your trip :)
I hope the flight goes smoothly for you!
ReplyDelete*hug*
Love the purple liner! :) I agree with Robyn, just don't take any liquids to be safe - I know they have to be under 100mL here but idk what the conversion is and can't be arsed to find out :P and no aerosols, obv.
ReplyDelete*hugs* I hope the flight and transfers go okay for you :)

You can take liquid but they cannot be in a container larger than 3 oz. So no large jars or bottles more than 3 oz. Whatever liquid (lotion, perfume, cleanser, shampoo etc.) you do take, has to be a in a quart sized sandwich bag. Make sure the bag is out when you go through security as they will want to look at it.
ReplyDeleteOther than that you should be good. I kept my lipglosses and small perfume roll-ons in my purse on myself the whole time, and they didn't care. Hope that helps!
Looks like the shadows are smooth and apply well. Very pretty look. XD
Make sure you bring powder instead of any liquids or gels:

Ooh, very pretty look!
ReplyDeleteWell, I just flew to Arizona and back this past week, and I took my entire makeup bag onboard with my in my carryon. They didn't say a thing about it. I left the perfumes and deodorant and stuff in my checked bag, but I had my foundation, concealer, mascara, etc onboard with me. Nothing got confiscated. :)
Try not to worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. :) Have fun!
Thanks for your tips everyone! I feel a LOT better now.
ReplyDeleteLove this look! And I can't wait to see your review of Silk Naturals. :)
