My travel makeup

I didn't want to take too much makeup to Texas with me, but I wanted to have enough to still be able to do some good EOTDs and such. Last time I went on vacation I barely brought ANYTHING, so I wasn't doing that again this time. I decided to only bring brown & black liners, since I use those the most. I didn't want to deal with loose pigments, so I just brought a few palettes. Here's the face makeup I use daily. I didn't want loose blush, so I brought a powder and a creme blush. Eye primer, a couple lippies, mascara. I also brought some solid perfumes, no liquid in case it spilled. In case you're wondering how my first time traveling by myself went... terrible. I do have an anxiety disorder, so as you can imagine I was freaking out enough as it was. Then my first flight got delayed by almost 5 hours. 5 HOURS. You know what we got as an apology? A granola bar and a bag of almonds. I had to switch my other flights around twice, so I was so worried and kept crying thinking I wouldn't get to Texas. It was a terrible first flying experience, and I am NOT looking forward to the flights back. Have any travel horror stories to share? What do you pack in terms of makeup for vacation?

  1. Oh nooo, so sorry about the trauma experience :( Delays really suck, especially when you have to rearrange connecting flights.

I generally pack like you do, no liquids or anything. I usually bring a black, brown and some kind of colored liner, teal or purple. I usually will bring one glitter eyeliner for if I go out somewhere. Then I usually bring two palettes, (i.e. Sleek Circus and my Mac palette, for example)... I tend to stick to gloss only when travelling, so usually a pinky/sheer one and a pigmented one.

  2. Booo, that sucks about the flights - but you made it! I rarely travel light if I can help it, but when I do I normally resort to not wearing much make-up at all, hahaha! Like if I go somewhere hot like Florida, it'll be mascara, brows, blush, a couple lippies that'll double as blush and a couple of pigments to do funky liner.

  3. That sucks that your flight got delayed. I've only been on an airplane once by myself, and it was a 14 hour flight. haha.

  4. That really sucks. The first time flying alone is always really scary. I am sure it will be better on the way back. The first time I flew alone I was flying to meet my parents and sisters in St. Martens (they had an extra week vacation). When I landed I had to go through customs. When they asked me where I was staying I had no idea what the name of the hotel was (my parents were just picking me up). The customs person was really mean and told me I was now considered an illegal immigrant and took my passport and said I wouldn't get it back until I found out where I was staying. Luckily I found my dad, got the name and got my passport back.

    Goodluck!

  5. I flew by myself for the first time last March and the flight got canceled! And I was in another city too... so they got me a hotel room and $10 thing for dinner. It was horrible... but I actually really enjoy flying by myself!
But yeah, when it came to make up, I only brought a few things w/ me. I like to travel light :)

  6. A granola bar and a bag of almonds?! How generous of them, eh? I flew to London a couple of years back and there was a terrorist scare - bloody terrifying but thankfully it was all sorted fairly quickly

Lovely little collection you've brought - Noticed the Hard Candy Primer in there... I'd love to try their stuff but I dont think it's stocked in the UK so anything I buy is from the good old interwebs. Makes shopping for makeup a tad more difficult! :)

  7. Oh no! I am not a fan of flying - especially turbulence - but I've never had to fly alone, or deal with such crap. :( I'm glad you made it to Texas, but a granola bar and almonds? LAME.

  8. ugh. i hate flying to taiwan. Literally, it's an 18 hour flight and it sucks especially when you fly alone. It's hard for me to sleep because I can't exactly lean on strangers if I'm in the aisle seat, now can I? I brought all my makeup with me to college, LOL but it's because I drove

  10. Oh man, the last time I flew I got delayed like that. We were so exhausted by the time we got to our destination - and then we got delayed on the way back. >:/ We didn't even get a granola bar four our neck aches.

Wow, you brought a lot! I limit myself to one quart sized bag of makeup and it's so hard to choose. Last time, I brought loose shadow sample baggies so I could fit more. But then when we were on vacation (cruise ship), I wished I had some of my other colors. XD

  11. Ack that sounds so stressful. I have a panic disorder as well and have never enjoyed flying. If I can drive I will because it puts me in control. I've driven as far as halfway across the country- 1600 miles. It sounds crazy but for how much more I enjoy it, it's worth it to me. You get to see so many places along the way and don't have to limit what you pack. Of course, if you don't have time it's not possible. The last time I took a plane alone was for my grandmother's funeral and that was 5 years ago.
