Movie post (Non makeup related, sorry lovelies)

If there is one thing I am obsessed with as much as makeup... and besides Hello Kitty... it is movies. I started becoming unhealthily obsessed wih them right around when I turned 14, I think. Ever since then I have watched between 2-5 movies a week in the school year, and about 7-12 a week in the summer. Sorry I don't have a life guys... anyway, I really enjoyed these films, and hopefully someone else will watch at least one and get some enjoyment from it too. Here are the best movies I've seen in the month of February, 2010. Note: these are not all movies released this month, just ones I have happened to see this month.

Purple EOTD with ecotools brush set

At Walgreens the other day I purchased a set of ecotools brushes, all for eyes. It included a shade brush, a smudge brush, a blending blush, a highlight brush, and a crease brush. I could not believe the difference having proper brushes made! I always just use the same type of eyeshadow brush for all parts of the look, because that's what I had. The ecotools brushes are really soft and amazing. The blending brush is my new favorite thing ever :D I'm kinda bummed about these pictures, in real life it looked so much more amazing. I was really pleased. What I used: UDPP NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk as base Mysteria by Evil Shades (inner lid) Unnamed Forever 21 purple pigment (outer lid) Shocking by Sassy (crease) Tell Me Lies, by Hi Fi (highlight) Milani Infinite liquid liner in Endless L'Oreal extra collegen mascara Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (waterline) Rimmel eyeliner in Loveable Lilac, topped with Mysteria (below waterline) Revlon ColorStay undereye concealer Revlon PhotoReady translucent finisher Rimmel mousse blush in Frozen Cherry Pixi lip booster in Thena HKOTD: Coin tin! Side note, I am seeing the midnight premier of Alice In Wonderland next week! I am so excited. I think I'm going to do my makeup like the queen of hearts, and I'm going to try and convince my blonde friend going with me to let me make her into Alice. :D Alice's Adventures In Wonderland is my favorite book of all time, with Through The Looking Glass as a close second... I love anything Alice, and I love how many renditions and interpretations there are of it. I'm going to love this movie! Who else is excited? Edit: I just realized the tin is sitting on top of a bunch of post-its that I wrote my favorite quotes from Alice's Adventures In Wonderland on. I'm such a nerdy birdy

Some Sassy swatches

I've been getting a lot of mail this week, and since it was sunny the other day, I got a lot of swatches done. Here are swatches from my latest order from Sassy Minerals. Left to right: Relax, Taboo, Wonderland, Shockwave, Shocking, Disturbing the Peace Left to right: Shatter, Midnight Train, Pucker Up, Intimate, Femme Fatale, Uplifting (free sample) , Solar Flare (free sample) I really love all these colors, they're so beautiful. Uplifting, a free sample that was included, is actually my favorite. I also LOVE Midnight Train, it will be great for a smokey eye. I just love Sassy Minerals. I've been so satisfied with my orders both times, and the colors really impress me. If you haven't tried Sassy yet, you really should. Samples are only 75 cents! I hope everyone's week is going well.

High Voltage Cosmetics Review

Let me just start off by saying I couldn't remember if I got free samples with this or not. Obviously, that's info I want to include, so I hunted around in my disgusting room which I SWEAR I will actually clean this weekend (yeah right) to find the invoice. I couldn't find it, so I even searched through my nasty trash, just because I love you guys so much. Well, I had an email invoice too. Obviously. Gross. And I just looked at their website, which says right on the front page that all orders get samples... geez. *_* The High Voltage Cosmetics website was super easy for me to order from. All the different categories are listed on the left sidebar, so it's really clean and simple. I ordered 11 eyeshadow samples, and one full size blush. I really like how the eyeshadows are listed so that you can click on them and add a sample size to your cart. I've been getting really sick of having to type out all the samples that I want when I order from someplace. They also have a page (under "sample lot") where you can order 20 eyeshadows for $14.50. It has 20 spaces, each with a drop down menu of all the colors in alphabetical order so you don't have to keep typing everything out. I like it! Samples were $1, and the blush was only $4 for the full size. A matte eyeshadow is $5.25 for a full size, and a shimmer in full size is only $3.50! These prices are great, they remind me of Evil Shades because you get so much product for such a low price. So, right off the bat, High Voltage was really appealing. They also have lip stuff, solid perfumes, a mineral eyeliner, some brow powders, a shimmer dust, an eyeshadow base, and a black creame shadow. Next time I order I'd like to try some of the lip products and the shimmer dust, and review the eyeshadow base. Swatches! With the macro setting on since I learned about it:P From left to right: Tree Hugger, Iron Butterfly, Ziggy Stardust, Totally Rad, Cocktail Party, Frostbite Do you love the goosebumps I have in all my swatch picture? Oh gosh, don't look at my gross room:P The greens all have this sort of sheer quality to them, I would recommend using them over a white base. Cocktail Party and Frostbite aren't as similar as they look in the pictures. Frostbite is for sure one of the best blues I have! More swatches. From left to right: Feel the Heat, Pink Heels, Just a Girl (free sample), Cupid's Arrow, Alter-Ego (free sample), High Voltage, Secrets & Lies You can barely see Feel the Heat, because it's a pale skin toned matte. I've been using it as a highlighter almost every day. If you only order one thing, order a full size of High Voltage! I didn't like the website picture that much, but figured it must be a good one since it's their namesake. I want to get a full size now, it's such a unique blue- somewhat metallic. You really can't tell until you swatch it! Pink Heels also surprised me. It looks like a peachy pink in the bag, but on my skin it was a bright neonish pink/coral. Very cool. I LOVE the blush I got, Hookin' Up. Supposedly it's a NARS Super Orgasm dupe, but I wouldn't know as I'm never going to pay $25 for a blush. Except I really want the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Nectar! It's $45 effing dollars, but isn't it gorgeous? Sorry for the mini ramble! The pictures are not as good as I would have liked, I couldn't capture it perfectly. The swatch of Pink Heels in the fourth photo is pretty close to what it looks like. It has pretty golden shimmer in it. The first swatch is using an eyeshadow brush, and the second is blended a little bit with a blush brush. I love it, but honestly I haven't yet tried a blush I didn't like... I always get peachy pink colors that are pretty similar, no matter where from. Here is a quick look I did today using High Voltage. I think I look really goofy in them, I just couldn't get a good one! I'm wearing Alto-Ego in the inner lid, Ziggy Stardust in the middle, and Secrets & Lies on the outer lid, as well as the Hookin' Up blush. Feel The Heat is my highlighter. I used NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk as a base for the shadows. So, as you can tell, High Voltage cosmetics has really impressed me! I'd love to try more samples not just in my typical color range, as well as the lippies, shimmer dust, and the eyeshadow base. I totally recommend this company, they have gorgeous, unique colors that are totally not repackaged. Go! Order now! :D EDIT: I just now took this stuff off after wearing for 12 hours. True I had on UDPP, but this has stayed like no other brand I've tried before. These shadows will not budge. The color was still as vibrant as when I put them on, seriously! No creasing, fading, anything. Color me very impressed.

I Touch Roses Review

My feelings on I Touch Roses are somewhat mixed. First, let's address the website. The homepage has a "color chart" of all their eyeshadows. If you go to the page labeled "Eye Shadows", however, there is a different color chart. Color descriptions are listed below, and include many shades not on the second chart. This confused me, and I ended up not ordering a couple shadows I would have liked, because I wasn't sure if they were actually being sold or not. The foundation, blush, lips, and skin pages are all straightforward. There is also a page of scents, none of which I ordered, because of the very vague descriptions. When you click the purchase button you are taken to your cart, which shows you the shipping price, and updates it as you add more items. I thought this was a nice touch. My products arrived in a package from Klaus Franz... one of my pet peeves for companies is when it has the person's name on the package, instead of the company name. I have lots of orders coming, so I don't know which order this is until I open it. And who is Klaus Franz? The company owner's name is Ahna. My samples came in a little purple organza bag. You can't order individual samples (you have to order x amount, but you do choose your colors). I got 2 sets of 7 eye shadow samples, a set of 4 lip samples, and a set of 3 blush samples. The lippies were in a little plastic baggie, and the blushes and shadows were all together in another baggie. I couldn't remember which ones were the actual blush, as it wasn't stated on the bag, and no invoice was included. My e-mail invoices didn't list what colors I had chosen either. This note was included. I understand people have personal issues, and I appreciate the extra lippie sample, but this was just another thing to add to the confusion of the website. The baggies the samples come in have a typical amount of pigment in them, but are awkwardly small. Here are 3 I Touch Roses sample baggies compared to one each of Morgana Minerals, Aromaleigh, and Detrivore. The first thing I noticed was that there were a few colors that looked exactly like some of the colors in my Hello Kitty lunchbox of repackaging shame. I decided to do some comparison swatches. From left to right: Heavenly Natural Beauty "Pixie", vs I Touch Roses "Moody"; HNB "Nymph" vs ITR "Perfection"; HNB "Diva" vs Pure Luxe "Grape" (these are both believed to be TKB's Grape Pop) vs ITR "Fantasy". As you can see, they are not the exact same, but all these colors are very similar. I would not say I Touch Roses is a repackager, but I would say the colors shown above are not unique or creative. I also though ITR's "Herbal" (left below) was the same as Pure Luxe's "Vibe" (right below), but I was wrong. Here are the rest of my swatches. From left to right: Tears, Unreal, Carisa, Best Friend, Love Me, Calm, Escape I, Whisper You can ignore that random purple up top, it's just Pure Luxe's "Grape" again. Tears was an included free sample. I actually like this shadow the best out of all of them. It's difficult to tell from the pictures, but Love Me is basically just a pink iridescence, and Calm is a blue-green iridescence. They look just like pictures of the Sparks! on the TKB website, but I can't compare for sure as I don't own any TKB micas. Here are more swatches. From left to right: Reason (free sample), Going Home, Twilight I, Twilight II, Rose Dust, Amorous, Mercy Amorous is actually a very glittery pink, the other color I particularly like. Twilight I, TWilight II, and Rose Dust all turned out to be the blushes. I could tell by the way they blended, and I checked the website to be sure. I think Twilight I is a very flattering color. Here are the lip samples compared in size to an Aromaleigh lip sample. They seem to contain slightly more product than the Aromaleigh sample, but are still in the annoying teeny bags. From left to rightL Ever After, For Love, Tease, Princess, Crystal In case you couldn't tell, I have just discovered the macro setting on the camera. All the bags but one had handwritten labels, not printed, which could be rubbed off in all of 2 seconds. I rubbed the label off of the Ever After lippie. Some of them had already gotten a little rubbed off during shipping. So I Touch Roses has a few colors, lippies, and blushes I like, but nothing that really stands out. The website is confusing to order from, and I don't like the size of the sample bags, or the writing that comes right off. I think maybe in time, with some more unique colors, I Touch Roses could improve a lot. Right now though I'm not too impressed.

Neutralish EOTD

I say Neutralish because I feel like there is no such thing as a neutral with Aromaleigh! When I think neutral, I think boring. There are no boring Aromalrigh colors. It's the only place I order a lot of non brights from, because even colors I would typically consider "dull" are just beautiful. Moth is a browny grey, with an amazing green interface that only shows up when it hits the light just right. Totally grab a sample ;] What I used: Detrivore eyeshadow primer Moth, by Aromaleigh (inner lid) Brianna, by Aromaleigh (outer lid) Oh Precious Patience, by The She Space (crease) Feel the Heat, by High Voltage (highlight) NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (inner v) Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (waterline) NYX eye pencil in Acid Green (under waterline) Urban Decay Lingerie lash primer mark scanda-lash mascara Revlon Colorstay under eye concealer Revlon PhotoReady translucent finishing powder mark blush in After Glo NYX lipstick in Georgia mark luxe gloss in Pearl Luxe What is up with the mascara in that picture... anyway. I really like the new Revlon PhotoReady face powder I've been using. I always try to keep my face as matte as possible, because I usually feel like I can't pull off the "dewy" look. I think this keeps shine on my face without making me look oily, so I really like it. Downside to this powder is the cost: $11 is a huge leap up from the $4 Covergirl stuff I was using. Drugstore makeup is getting pricey these days! Also, it has a weird smell, like a bathroom that's just been cleaned with a floral cleaner... I don't know how to describe it. I think it makes my skin look really nice though, so the pros outweigh the cons. HKOTD! Trash can! 16th birthday gift :] That's my 2009 calender next to it... too cute to throw away. Oh, and in case there's someone who hasn't seen this article from anyone else's blog... here. I've already left my pissy comments about it on other people's blogs, you can rant here if you want. :P

MAIL HAUL!

I got 4 packages in the mail today! From Avon/mark Aromaleigh High Voltage Cosmetics and Cherry Culture! These pictures are pretty lame colorwise, everything looks a lot brighter irl. The L.A. Colors due, though, actually looks like that, definitely NOT like the picture on the Cherry Culture site *sigh* Hmm... nope. I also wanted to show you my nails, using Wet N Wild's "Rain Check" which I got for 99 cents :) I used a coat of CG's Matte Magic on top. It's grey, it's blue! I love it! PS, I know the yellow is dirty! It's not my carpet, but the towel I keep under my makeup area to try and stop ruining the carpet ;] I was going to take pictures of my whole Hello Kitty collection and post it, but I decided I'm going to do a Hello Kitty of the Day instead! I don't think showcasing some of my weirder things individually will make me look like any less of a loony, but it'll be more fun! Here are some knee socks my friend Emily just picked me up. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can wear them with a cute little skirt! I hope everyone's week is going well.
