A product I hate so much that I'm making a whole post about it.

I hope it is evident from the name of my blog that I generally write about makeup. Once in a while I'll talk about a fun indie bath & body company, cus that stuff is awesome too! I do not ever write about shaving cream, because that shit is boring, and it's not fun, pretty, or awesome. But due to the fact that my legs and wallet have been defiled by this mockery of a shaving cream, and due to the fact that I keep seeing people RECOMMENDING this crap, I decided to make a ranty post about how much it sucks. I care about you guys and don't want you to make the same mistake I did when I bought... *DUN DUN DUN* THE SHAVING CREAM FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL! I bought this Eos shaving cream from Walgreens a couple months ago, wanting to test it. I don't remember the exact price, only that it was about $1 more than my usual Skintimate shaving cream (in the scent Flirty Mango). I wouldn't even call this product a shaving cream. It is more like an extremely runny lotion, or like using a bar of soap on your legs to shave instead of actual shaving cream (which I find annoyingly ineffective). You would think, that since it's basically just a lotion, your legs would feel soft and moisturized after you use it. Wrong! My legs are really dry and sensitive, and after I shave they are usually really itchy. This product wasn't any different. It says you can use it wet or dry- true, but it sucks either way. When I tried using it on dry legs, it left behind a really thin layer of the cream wherever I shaved that I had to wash off. The razor couldn't seem to get it all. A lot of the product also got stuck in between the razor blades, and wouldn't rinse out. This made more hair get stuck in the blades as well, so basically the blade is ruined after one use. The sink in my bathroom got extremely clogged up last month and was practically impossible to fix, and I just now realized it was probably due to the shaving cream that was going down the drain. You also have to use a huge amount to fully cover your legs. I have only tried using it twice, and if I ever bothered to try it again, there's only enough left for 2 or 3 more shaves. The only redeeming quality is that it smells nice. I picked out the scent Lavender Jasmine. I don't think it smells like either, but it's nice. Bottom line: sound the alarms and avoid at all costs! I like to end angry posts with a nice picture ^_^ Here you go!

Fuck you, Newport News

Unless you want to read about how pissed off I am right now, skip this post. I have a hell of a hard time finding bikinis that will look good on me, since I've been gaining weight but still have tiny boobs. Everything makes me look the great combination of fat + flat. I was really excited to browse through my mom's Newport News catalog and see a bikini with a padded bra-style top, because I've been looking for one everywhere. They had a bunch of mix n match bottoms too, and each piece is only $15, so I got really excited and ordered a size 2 and 4, because I didn't know which would fit me. And $30 is such a good price! When I got them, they fit me like I was shoving myself into doll clothes. For the record, I wear a jr's size M, a small or medium at Hollister / A&F, XS at Old Navy and Charlotte Russe. I should be able to fit comfortably into a size 4. But no. So, I ordered the same things in a size 6 and 8. They got here today. Here's the website links if you're curious: top bottom 1 bottom 2 Shock of the century, they still didn't fit in those sizes. They weren't too small, but the tops are cut so insanely low that my risk of pulling a celeb-style nip slip is about a 99% if I tried to wear them out. I even tried pulling the padding out and adjusting the straps, but still to no avail. Both types of bottoms were low in the front and very high in the back, so they looked awful on me. It made me wonder what kind of women they expect to be able to wear these. This crap isn't even what makes me the angriest. I noticed a really strong smell on one of the bikini tops. It smelled like straight up chlorine. I thought maybe that was just the factory smell or something, so I smelled the other pieces. They smelled like plastic. THEN I noticed the smelly top had no tag. Every other piece had a tag saying you can return swimwear, but ONLY if the tag is still on. They sent me a USED bikini top. Didn't anyone bother to check to see that there was no tag? And that it smelled like a swimming pool? Each piece comes in its own little sealed bag, so SOMEONE had to reseal it in a new bag, ignoring the fact that it had obviously been used. I am so angry right now. Not only do I still have no swimsuit at almost the end of July, when it's been around/over 100 degrees every day for the last week but I got sent something that someone else had been using, which is so disgusting and unsanitary. I buy used clothes all the time, but I'm not comfortable buying a used swimsuit. And the fact that it SHOULD be new, yet they sent me someone's old bikini top, infuriates me. My advice after this incident is to stay away from Newport News at all costs. I know it is pretty much targeted towards middle aged ladies, but they have some really cute shit in there sometimes, so I always flip through it. Now I know never to order from them again.

Hot Topic Makeup

So as I was at Hot Topic the other day doing my usual drooling-but-not-buying routine at items of Hello Kitty, Lady Gaga, and Alice In Wonderland, I noticed they had some makeup on sale. A lot of items were .98 cents apiece, so I thought I'd get some to review, since I've never tried any of them, and I haven't seen them on anyone else's blogs. I always love looking at their polishes- they have so many pretty colors. They have a lot of pretty palettes too, although none on sale so I didn't get any. I purchased 2 polishes, 2 glitter eyeliners, and one eyeshadow. This is the only picture you get, sorry! The lighting is too shitty. So, the eyeshadow is just a matte white, nothing remarkable. The glitters look just as they do in the container, dry in a couple minutes, peel off easily, like you would expect. The nail polish is not as unremarkable as these items, because it totally SUCKS. You have to hold your grip on that teeny tiny black lid, which makes it really difficult to keep a steady hand. The brush is fat but not in a good way, and it's stiff and the bristles spread themselves out for a weird, uneven coat. Also, the polish is thick, gloppy, and runny. When I pulled the wand out of the bottle, it dripped all over the sides, and I had to keep trying to wipe it off and stop it from dripping everywhere. So while I'd say most of the Hot Topic makeup is the mediocre quality you would expect, DO NOT buy the polish. These weren't even worth the .98 cents, much less the normal price of $3. Don't get sucked in by the pretty colors! Hopefully by next weekend I'll have some Forever 21 makeup to show you. Mall brand makeup is intriguing me right now.

Pale purple/pink EOTD

Hello everyone, I'm hoping your week started off better than mine. My boyfriend is on his way back to Texas, so I won't see him until the end of next month. I had my hopes up very high about the possible job I was going to be getting at Sally's- this is my dream part-time job. I was talking to the manager and she was about to give me an impromptu interview, because I seemed so fit for the job. Then she found out I am 17, and told me you have to be 18 to work there. When I'm 18 I'll only be here for a couple months before I leave for college. I had my hopes up and I was so insanely excited for this job, so needless to say I was extremely upset. That added to the fact that the roads are terribly bad here made for an unhappy afternoon- my car spun around multiple different times as I was trying to get home, and someone started drifting into my lane so I had to get into a turn lane quickly to avoid being hit. Ok, rant over, here was my look for the day. What I used: Suffocation, by Morgana Minerals (inner lid) Spike the Punch, by Hi Fi Cosmetics (outer lid) Candytuft, by Aromaleigh (highlight- this color sounds dirty, heehee) Ephemeral Violet, by Aromaleigh (under waterline) Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in Purple Shock (eyeliner) Revlon eyeliner in Very Violet (waterline) Milani Powder Mosaic in Sweet Cheeks (blush) Lancome Juicy Tubes Smoothies in Spring Fling (gloss) I am deff. not in the mood for brights today, but since I already decided to be moody and wear black, I thought dark eye makeup would be slightly melodramatic. The only other places I can think of that are hiring right now are TJ Maxx, where I know you only have to be 16, so I can try that. Aldi, the discount grocery store, is also hiring for cashiers with a salary of $10.50 an hour! I have to see about that, I don't know the age restrictions, or if it's even a part-time job. I'm dropping some of my unecessary classes so I get out of school right before 1. This way I can get a second job. Wish me luck :) I have been so broke, as in, I've had less than $20 for the last week and a half. This was the only pretty I've gotten for myself in 2 weeks: China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, on sale for $2 at Sally's. I miss buying pretties T_T Payday is Thursday, but as I've been getting almost no hours, it will probably be a completely tiny check. Sorry for so much complaining! I feel like if I was able to order makeup right now, I wouldn't be so whiny, but I can't. I also told my mom I would link to her Etsy shop. She's had it up for like half a year, but doesn't know how to get people to see it, so she hasn't really sold anything. She makes beautiful cards, and spends so much time on them- her card making collection GREATLY surpasses my makeup collection. Here is her shop- the cards are sold in sets, and all come with envelopes and can be customized on request. She will even make a totally custom card if you want it, so don't hesitate to contact her ;] Give people something better than than lame ass cheesy Hallmark shit, come on now. I hope everyone makes it through their week ok.

Mini-Haul, EOTD

Yesterday I had to get some new stuff! I finally opened a Sally Card too! Here's a couple pictures of my mini haul. I'll get started on my hair dye rant later... The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion was something my mom got me. :) She was in Chicago the other day and I BEGGED her to stop at Sephora and get it for me. I was so happy she actually did! She made me laugh when she got back, talking about the brands- "Have you ever heard of NARS?" No mom, I only live and breathe makeup... haha. Anyhow! At Target I picked up a set of 3 elf lip glosses for $3. I REALLY like the colors, and they have a really sweet, almost candy-like smell to them which I like. Some people would probably not like the smell, but it's good for me. I also got whatever that straightening stuff is on the left just because it was 50 cents... worth trying out for that cheap. I also got Nina Ultra Pro polish in "Purple X-ing". Here's a link to a picture, I haven't tried it yet. The other polish is Orly's Iron Butterfly, and here is a picture of that. I realized how much people's blogs influence me, I wouldn't have grabbed either of those colors if I hadn't seen them in blogs. I thought the bottle of the UDPP was really pretty, so I decided to do a look based off of that. What I used: Pixies, by Hi-Fi Cosmetics (inner lid) Reasonable Insanity, by The She Space (outer lid) Shroud, by Detrivore (inner lid corners) londondungeon, by Aromaleigh (eyeliner) Revlon eyeliner in Very Violet (waterline) Jemma Kidd eyeliner in Fashionista (below waterline) Voluminous by L'Oreal mascara Lancome Juicy Tubes lip gloss in Spring Fling I painted my nails when I got home, using "For Audrey" by China Glaze. Unfortunately, it is a plain matte, and I suck at doing my nails, so you could see every little uneven spot on my nails. I ended up taking it off. I need glitter to hide my bad nail painting! Now on to my RANT... I wanted to dye my tips a bright purple. This purple, called Not So Shy Violet, by Beyond the Zone. They should have just called it Not So Violet. True, I didn't use bleach first, but I've gotten bright red in my hair before, and it showed up just fine without bleach. The bottle was so blue, I should have known the color wouldn't turn out right. My tips are not violet, not even a blue-violet, but a blue-gray so dark it looks black in most lighting. NOT the bright purple I was hoping for... T_T What a waste of money. But since my hair is so much longer than I normally keep it, I'm just going to have my friend cut my hair for me in a couple days so there's no dye left. I can't wait for my paycheck this Thursday so I can get more stuff to review! Also, here is the link to a blog you might want to check out. Since there are 8 nights of Hanukkah, there are 8 nights of beauty contests with awesome prizes! Hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting pumped for Christmas!

Merry Midnight, Mineral Makeup Mutiny

That title has way too much alliteration for my my taste, haha. First off I wanted to show a picture of OPI's Merry Midnight, my favorite color right now. It is such a unique color, a purple with blue sparkles and red flecks. It's so cool. Since my hand has icky burn marks all over it, here is a link to Grey's blog. This picture captures it perfectly. I managed to succeed today in not making my right hand look like a 5 year old did it, so I'm pretty proud of myself. I feel like since I'm part of the makeup blogging community now, I should share my thoughts on the Mineral Makeup Mutiny. I think it's great that there is a list out of companies I can trust to take my money for something they worked hard to produce themselves. It also saddens me that there seems to be a need for a website like this. I feel nervous about placing orders lately, because I'm learning how many repackagers there are, and how I've probably lost a good deal of money to them. I consider makeup my art medium, and basically the only thing I really have talent and passion for, and it's upsetting to have to worry about if I'm getting ripped off every time I place an order anywhere. I was recently googling the names of companies I've ordered from with the word "repackaged" after it. I stumbled upon this entry from the MMM blog. If you scroll down to the comments, you will see the first one is from Christina, owner of Pure Luxe cosmetics. Seeing this really upset me- the way she threatened a legal statement, as has been seen with Orglamix and LimeCrime, is a very poor and juvenile way to run your business, in my opinion. It also upset me because because now I am quite certain (although one can never be 100% positive) that Pure Luxe probably repackages some pigments. I have at least 30 samples from there, and it really pisses me off I spent my money getting what could be jacked up prices on products I could have gotten elsewhere. Then, while reading this post in Grey's blog yesterday, I saw the pictures of Heavenly Natural's 'Hush a Bye' next to Glamour Doll Eyes' 'Dirty Jeans'. To me these pigments look nearly identical to a color I own from Pure Luxe called 'Galaxy'. I also own many Heavenly Natural Beauty eyeshadows which are also nearly identical to straight pigments. Do I think the owners of these businesses make some completely unique eyeshadow products? Yes. Do I also think that they are repackaging pigments and not disclaiming it right on the page? Yes. I think, even if you will answer honestly to an email about whether or not you repackage, to not directly state it on your page is being dishonest. I also emailed the owner of Glittersniffer asking if her products were original. This was 6 days ago and I have still not received a response, which leads me to believe they are indeed not original. And if they are, it's poor customer service to leave an email sitting for so long, especially when she states she will "answer emails pretty quickly". Sorry for the rant, I'm just pretty bummed I put my money into companies that aren't seeming too honest at this point. To end on a happier note, here's some kissing anteaters!
