Concrete Minerals Electric Eye Primer giveaway!

Good news everyone!
After reading my last post, Emily of Concrete Minerals generously offered to give one of my readers a FREE tin of the Concrete Minerals Electric Eye Primer! If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that this is my primer of choice, and what I use every day. I know Urban Decay Primer Potion is a holy grail item for many people, but having used that as well, I can say that for me personally the Concrete Minerals primer can totally hold it's own against UDPP. For me it works just as well, if not better, and since it's about half the price, it's what I'll continue to use! Here's my beat-up (AKA well-loved) tin.
I thought I'd show you a few swatches- a glittery loose shadow (Fyrinnae's "Lemming"), a pressed shimmery shadow (NYX's "Dune"), and a matte loose shadow (Aromaleigh's "Supermurgatroid"). On the left are the shadows without primer, and on the right they are over the Electric Eye Primer.
Now that you're properly convinced, here's how to enter: the only thing I ask is that you leave a comment with your e-mail address, and an idea (or a few) of what I should name my new kitty! Here's a picture of her:
She won't stop hiding right now, so this is the best I could do. ^_^ That's it! The giveaway will close on the 18th, and I will announce the winner on the 19th. This is open internationally! Good luck everyone, and thanks for reading!

EOTD with Aromaleigh Hi-Fi Retro Mattes

Whenever I use AL samples I just get bummed out knowing that when I run out, that is IT sir! The other day Mindy did an awesome look using her Aromaleigh matte shadows, and it inspired me to play around with some of mine today. I just got my MAC Wonder Woman stuff delivered today, and it inspired my look a little bit. The black liner against the yellow shadow reminded me a little bit of comic books, and I used a sheer red gloss to go with it, although it shows up looking pink in the pictures. I'm going to do a full list of products I used, for once! What I used: Eyes- Concrete Minerals Electric Eye Primer Aromaleigh's "Real Gone" on lid Aromaleigh's "Smokin'" in crease High Voltage's "Feel The Heat" to highlight Maybelline "The Falsies" mascara InColor (aka Jordana) FabuLiner in black Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in "Zero" Face- Hard Candy's Sheer Envy Primer Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer Benefit's Erase Paste (under eyes) Revlon PhotoReady Powder (don't really like this much) Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearls (not a fan of this either) Cheeks and Lips- MAC blush in "Mighty Aphrodite" elf blush in "Gotta Glow" Urban Decay Ultraglide lipgloss in "Heat" You can ignore the fact that I got gloss on my teeth... It's been about 10 hours and my eyeshadow still looks awesome. I credit this partially to Concrete Mineral's awesome eye primer, and partly to the staying power of these shadows. I really love how the Mighty Aphrodite blush looks on me- I think it looks really natural, which is funny because I naturally flush a really bright pink. To wrap it up I want to say hi to my new followers! Thanks for stopping by ^_^ I would LOVE to do a giveaway to celebrate +350, but until I find a job I really can't afford to do so. Hopefully I can get one soon so I can do a fun giveaway (and go off my own no-buy, bleh).

Things I Never Did Before Beauty Blogging

I stole this idea from a post in Lisa Kate's blog. Read & follow if you don't already- love her. 1. I had bought a crappy primer from a crappy online repackaging brand one time, and thought primers didn't work. That was before I learned about Detrivore primer and UDPP... now I always use one of the two, usually along with Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. 2. Repackaging, you say? What's this? Almost ALL the online makeup I had bought pre-blogging was from repackagers. I thought Lime Crime colors were so unique and pretty, I was almost willing to shell out the $12 for them. Thanksfully blogging has opened my eyes, It is a lot easier for me to tell if a company is a repackager now. 3. This was technically about 1 1/2 or 2 years ago, right when I first started getting into makeup. I saw L'Oreal HiP colors and thought they were the brightest, most unique colors out there. :P Now I laugh at the thought, they are so plain compared to places like Aromaleigh, Fyrinnae, and Hi Fi. 4. Another one that was before blogging, but still. ONE eyeshadow color. I thought that was a whole look in itself. Now I wear one or two eyeshadows on my days when I don't have time, or I'm going somewhere like my grandma's house, so I don't want to be over the top. Most real looks of mine now use between 3 and 6 colors. 5. Lipstick! I had actually never worn real lipstick (aside from some Hello Kitty stuff meant for little girls) until just about a month ago, after seeing this post on Julissa's blog. Her lipstick swatches looked so pretty I decided I had to start trying lipstick out. I think I have 8 now. 6. Nice, expensive, name brand makeup never seemed like something I'd get. I had barely ever even heard of Sephora, and I had browsed the UD website but just gave up cus it costs so much. I never thought I'd be willing to shell out $17 for a primer. Just recently I got 4 UD products from that Haute Look sale- cost with shipping was only $21! Beauty Ticket has lead me to get products from Too Faced, Stila, and Jelly Pong Pong. My friend just got me a Sephora palette and AMAZING Bare Escentuals glosses. I love indie makeup, but I do love the "nice" stuff, too. I'm sure there's more, but these are what come to mind. And of course, I've tried out so many new makeup and polish brands I see on everyone's lovely blogs. Blogging is a really important thing to me now, reading your blogs and writing my own makes me really happy. I love chatting with people who share my obsession! I <3 all my followers, have a great week!

Detrivore Review

Finally! I am so lazy, I've had these for probably two weeks. From Detrivore Cosmetics, I ordered their primer, and samples of Abyss, Creature, Starlet, Swine, and Ectoplasma. They sent me four free samples, Death Valley, Amazon, Muse, and Shroud. The funny thing is, my two favorite colors were from their assortment, Muse and Shroud. The samples I received were in the same color family as the ones I paid for, I really like this. I didn't get a little thank-you with the package, but I decided 4 free samples were keeping me just as happy. :) I think that's really generous. Here are my swatches: From left to right: Creature, Death Valley, Amazon, Swine, Muse, Ectoplasma, Abyss, Starlet, and Shroud. The top row is straight on my skin, the bottom row is on top of the Detrivore primer. I think these are all pretty, the pictures actually make them look more sparkly than they do the way I see them. They're not big on the twinkle or shimmer, closer to mattes, all pretty simple. I know some people really like this, but I prefer lots of shimmer and sparkle in my shadows. Even so, these are beautiful. They were all mixed perfectly, and the feel of the powder is really nice. Here is a picture of the primer container. While the primer definitely enhances the look of the shadows, I'm not having the best luck with it in the way of creasing. My eyeshadow was completely creased by the time school was over. If anyone has any tips for using this primer, please let me know! I feel like I might be doing something wrong, since so many people love it. Would I order again? Probably not, but it's not in any way due to the quality. I just like more sparkly, complicated shades. I guess I'm a snob. :P Also, here's a picture of me wearing China Glaze's Ruby Pumps. I really wanted this, then I realized I already have it! It was a nice surprise. :D I used 3 layers because I wanted a darker red. It is so pretty, shiny, and sparkly, I just love it. This picture IS photoshopped, I upped the brightness and contrast to get a more accurate picture of the polish, because the original was very dull. (I'm wearing Lancome Juicy Tubes gloss in Spring Fling, btw. Favorite gloss of all time) And here's my look for today! I never understand why people associate blue eyeshadow with whore-yness, I think it's so pretty on almost everyone. I used: Spell, by Meow (lid) Hippie, by Pure Luxe (supposedly)(eyeliner) Shroud, by Detrivore (inner lid corners) Lancome Hypnose mascara (this make me look like I have a ton of lashes, it doesn't really add much volume though) Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (I wear this every day) That's all for today. Finals are next week so I really won't have a lot of time to post, but once winter break is here I'll be doing a lot. :) I hope everyone's having a great week!
