Detrivore Review
Finally! I am so lazy, I've had these for probably two weeks. From Detrivore Cosmetics, I ordered their primer, and samples of Abyss, Creature, Starlet, Swine, and Ectoplasma. They sent me four free samples, Death Valley, Amazon, Muse, and Shroud. The funny thing is, my two favorite colors were from their assortment, Muse and Shroud. The samples I received were in the same color family as the ones I paid for, I really like this.
I didn't get a little thank-you with the package, but I decided 4 free samples were keeping me just as happy. :) I think that's really generous. Here are my swatches:
From left to right: Creature, Death Valley, Amazon, Swine, Muse, Ectoplasma, Abyss, Starlet, and Shroud. The top row is straight on my skin, the bottom row is on top of the Detrivore primer.
I think these are all pretty, the pictures actually make them look more sparkly than they do the way I see them. They're not big on the twinkle or shimmer, closer to mattes, all pretty simple. I know some people really like this, but I prefer lots of shimmer and sparkle in my shadows. Even so, these are beautiful. They were all mixed perfectly, and the feel of the powder is really nice.
Here is a picture of the primer container.
While the primer definitely enhances the look of the shadows, I'm not having the best luck with it in the way of creasing. My eyeshadow was completely creased by the time school was over. If anyone has any tips for using this primer, please let me know! I feel like I might be doing something wrong, since so many people love it. Would I order again? Probably not, but it's not in any way due to the quality. I just like more sparkly, complicated shades. I guess I'm a snob. :P
Also, here's a picture of me wearing China Glaze's Ruby Pumps. I really wanted this, then I realized I already have it! It was a nice surprise. :D I used 3 layers because I wanted a darker red. It is so pretty, shiny, and sparkly, I just love it. This picture IS photoshopped, I upped the brightness and contrast to get a more accurate picture of the polish, because the original was very dull. (I'm wearing Lancome Juicy Tubes gloss in Spring Fling, btw. Favorite gloss of all time)
And here's my look for today! I never understand why people associate blue eyeshadow with whore-yness, I think it's so pretty on almost everyone.
I used:
Spell, by Meow (lid)
Hippie, by Pure Luxe (supposedly)(eyeliner)
Shroud, by Detrivore (inner lid corners)
Lancome Hypnose mascara (this make me look like I have a ton of lashes, it doesn't really add much volume though)
Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (I wear this every day)
That's all for today. Finals are next week so I really won't have a lot of time to post, but once winter break is here I'll be doing a lot. :) I hope everyone's having a great week!

Many EOTD's
Sorry for my lack of posting, I have been very busy! I'm so ashamed at myself for STILL not having my Hi-Fi and Detrivore reviews posted :P Hopefully I can do one tomorrow and one Thursday. I do have a few looks, though, that I think are really cute. Having a 4 day weekend gave me more time to work on makeup. I hope everyone had a teriffic Thanksgiving! I'm trying not to order any makeup until after Christmas so I can use my money on gifts only... I'm going to go crazy ordering makeup on the 26th. XD On to the looks!
What I used:
Shroud, by Detrivore Cosmetics (inner lid- I SWEAR this smells like cinnamon)
Cheap Tricks, by Hi-Fi Cosmetics (outer lid)
moonagedaydream, by Aromaleigh (eyeliner)
Jemma Kidd i-conic eyes eyeliner in "drama queen" (waterline)
What I used:
from inner to outer lid: glimmer (pure hue), ephemeral violet, funkytown, blackdiamond, all by Aromaleigh (I was in a mood where I felt like using a company I know hasn't ripped me off T_T)
Mary Kate & Ashley shimmer plus/all over color (under waterline- don't have the official name but it's a shimmery white. This is my guilty WalMart pleasure :3)
Fyrinnae's Lip Lustre in "Lollipop-Pop"
This look is holiday-ish because we decorated the tree on Sunday. I did use Heavenly Natural Beauty and Pure Luxe, but I can't recommend these companies to anyone.
What I used:
Sea Dragon, by Heavenly Naturals (base color on lid)
Pot O Gold by Heavenly Natural Beauty; Razor by Pure Luxe. Both were applied over Sea Dragon for some glitter.
Kuroneko, by Fyrinnae (crease)
Bullion, by Pure Luxe (under waterliner)
Max Factor MAXalicious Glitz lip gloss in "Vegas Nights" (blotted)
Can you tell I love that hat? Payless has so many cute winter accessories right now.
Look for reviews during the rest of this week!

Merry Midnight, Mineral Makeup Mutiny
That title has way too much alliteration for my my taste, haha. First off I wanted to show a picture of OPI's Merry Midnight, my favorite color right now. It is such a unique color, a purple with blue sparkles and red flecks. It's so cool. Since my hand has icky burn marks all over it, here is a link to Grey's blog. This picture captures it perfectly. I managed to succeed today in not making my right hand look like a 5 year old did it, so I'm pretty proud of myself.
I feel like since I'm part of the makeup blogging community now, I should share my thoughts on the Mineral Makeup Mutiny. I think it's great that there is a list out of companies I can trust to take my money for something they worked hard to produce themselves. It also saddens me that there seems to be a need for a website like this. I feel nervous about placing orders lately, because I'm learning how many repackagers there are, and how I've probably lost a good deal of money to them. I consider makeup my art medium, and basically the only thing I really have talent and passion for, and it's upsetting to have to worry about if I'm getting ripped off every time I place an order anywhere.
I was recently googling the names of companies I've ordered from with the word "repackaged" after it. I stumbled upon this entry from the MMM blog. If you scroll down to the comments, you will see the first one is from Christina, owner of Pure Luxe cosmetics. Seeing this really upset me- the way she threatened a legal statement, as has been seen with Orglamix and LimeCrime, is a very poor and juvenile way to run your business, in my opinion. It also upset me because because now I am quite certain (although one can never be 100% positive) that Pure Luxe probably repackages some pigments. I have at least 30 samples from there, and it really pisses me off I spent my money getting what could be jacked up prices on products I could have gotten elsewhere.
Then, while reading this post in Grey's blog yesterday, I saw the pictures of Heavenly Natural's 'Hush a Bye' next to Glamour Doll Eyes' 'Dirty Jeans'. To me these pigments look nearly identical to a color I own from Pure Luxe called 'Galaxy'. I also own many Heavenly Natural Beauty eyeshadows which are also nearly identical to straight pigments. Do I think the owners of these businesses make some completely unique eyeshadow products? Yes. Do I also think that they are repackaging pigments and not disclaiming it right on the page? Yes. I think, even if you will answer honestly to an email about whether or not you repackage, to not directly state it on your page is being dishonest.
I also emailed the owner of Glittersniffer asking if her products were original. This was 6 days ago and I have still not received a response, which leads me to believe they are indeed not original. And if they are, it's poor customer service to leave an email sitting for so long, especially when she states she will "answer emails pretty quickly".
Sorry for the rant, I'm just pretty bummed I put my money into companies that aren't seeming too honest at this point.
To end on a happier note, here's some kissing anteaters!

Blue Green EOTD
I'm in a pretty bad mood right now. I took stupid photography so I could have a class with my friend. Now it's the class I struggle with the most. It's the only class I don't have an A in, so it's bringing down my GPA besides pissing me off. We have a powerpoint presentation due this Friday, worth 200 points. I spent 3 hours working on it yesterday. I went to work on it again today and it's just gone My mom works with computers and she couldn't even figure out why it disappeared. It just did. So now I have to redo everything and I'm really frustrated.
Add that to the fact I got sent home early today from work, I'm not getting enough hours, and my friend spent an hour text lecturing me about how irresponsible I am, it's really, really not a good day.
Here was my EOTD from yesterday. I feel like I've seen something similar to this before, possibly on Medusa's Makeup. I checked the site and I didn't see it though, so maybe not.
What I used:
Elves Rule, by The She Space (inner lid)
Check Me Out, by Pure Luxe (outer lid)
Awakening, by Pure Luxe (inner v)
Smurfberry Blast, by The She Space (lower lash line)
Sorry I look so creeptastic in these pictures >_<
Up close and personal
I couldn't decide what shade of blue green to use, so I was swatching my hand. It made me realize I have waaay too many blue greens. :P

Simple EOTD, Friday the 13th at Meow
I'm still feeling stuffy and cold-ish from yesterday, so today I didn't bother doing my hair, and I did a simple look with my makeup. I actually really love it, I think it's interesting without being busy.
What I used:
Girl Genius, by The She Space (lid)
London Dungeon, by Aromaleigh (as eyeliner)
Luminous, by Pure Luxe (lower lash line)
Rimmel London MAXX Lash mascara
Here's what it looks like up close.
I'm in love with London Dungeon as the eyeliner. It's a nice dark color, but since it's purple and not plain black, I think it's prettier. I also am obsessed with Girl Genius, I've been very into light light pinks lately. This was the first time I ever tried Luminous, it's so light you can barely see it in the picture. I applied it dry though, so I think I should try it wet.
My Fyrinnae order has just been shipped out, so it should be here in a couple days. I also ordered some samples from Meow Cosmetics tonight. I got around 12 eyeshadow samples, and some "brow beater" samples. I'm not sure exactly how those are supposed to work, but I guess I'll find out. Most of the colors I got were from the Friday the 13th collection, and the Egyptian Treasures collection. I only ordered a few from their permanent colors, because they seemed pretty generic. And now, of course, as I vowed not to order makeup for two weeks, Aromaleigh has to go and put out an old holiday collection, and prepare to release a new collection of mattes. T_T There goes my next paycheck...
Today was my boyfriend's 18th birthday. :3 We went out to Chipotle for dinner, then his parents showed me a bunch of his cute lil baby pictures. We spent the rest of the night watching The Office and cuddling. I am so lucky to have someone who I can share so much love with. I am so happy with life ever since I met Sam, and I really want everyone to be able to feel the same way someday. I'm really glad for you if you already have that. :)
Us a month-ish ago. :D
Another side note! I just found out about the Winchester Mystery House. How could I not have known about it sooner? I absolutely HAVE to visit. Check out the website.
Since tomorrow is a Saturday, hopefully I'll have time to put together a more interesting look!

Friday the 13th, Sneaky Nails
Since I was wearing a bright green shirt yesterday, I kept my eye makeup very simple. Unfortunately, the pictures didn't turn out very well, but I hope you can get an idea of the look.
What I Used:
Circle the Moon, by The She Space
Jazzy, by Pure Luxe as my liner
Rimmel London MAXX Lash Mascara
Eyehance! Best I could get, sorry guys :/
Circle the Moon is great, I love it. It's extremely glittery, which made me worry when I swatched it, but it's so classy on the eyes. TSS Pixie Paradise is almost the same color, but it has a different shade of purple as the undertone. Both are gorgeous. Jazzy is also one of my favorite colors EVER. it's a purple blue with all this pink glitter, it's very dramatic and pretty.
Last night as I was painting my toes, I decided I wanted a bright blue, so I resorted to using Sinful Colors Drugstore crap. It was a mistake. It took SO LONG to dry. Then after it finally seemed to have finished, I made the mistake of putting my moccasins on. When I took them off most of the polish on my big toes were in my shoe instead of on my nails. It just reminded me why I typically use OPI/China Glaze now.
Since I was painting my toenails, I decided to go for my nails too. I had to pick a color that hopefully my most devilish of managers wouldn't know I was wearing, so I grabbed OPI's Significant Other Color. It is a VERY sheer purple, very subtle. It has a green shine to it that you can only see when the light hits it a certain way. So it's cute, but hopefully not noticable enough for my managers. ^.^ It's very hard to photograph, so here's a link to Polish Mayhem, the most accurate picture I could find (I adore this blog). It is, however, a lot more sheer than the picture seems.
In a few days, it will be Friday the 13th- a special event not only because it's my boyfriend's 18th birthday (I love you Sam!) but because it is the first time I will be ordering Meow Cosmetics. While I'm not very excited over their permanent colors, I do love their Egyptian Treasures collection, and their Friday the 13th collection. The 13th collection is only available for purchase on Friday the 13th's, so I'm going to order some of both of those collections, and a few permanent colors so I can swatch for you guys. I'm still eagerly awaiting my Fyrinnae order too. :)

Peaches EOTD, great prices on OPI and China Glaze!
My eyes were supposed to look like peaches, buy I got a lot of sunset comments. Either way, this is my favorite look so far.
What I used:
Lemon Lime Brain Freeze, by The She Space
Fire and Brimstone, by The She Space
OMG, by Pure Luxe
Estranged, by Aromaleigh
Mascara is Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme
I use Covergirl eyeliner in brown for my waterline every day
Inner to outer lid: brain freeze, brimstone, omg
I hated how I looked in all the pictures I took, so you can just enjoy my eyes. :)
Also, I was very excited yesterday to stumble upon two websites that have TONS of China Glaze, OPI, and the Color Club. I've never actually tried Color Club, but from the pictures I've seen on nail polish blogs, they have a lot of cool colors. I plan on ordering later this week or sometime next week from Head2Toe Beauty and 88 Beauty Supply. I was totally drooling over all the polish yesterday, so I'm pumped. Tomorrow I'm going to do my toenails and get some pictures, I just have to decide what color!

Circus EOTD?
I don't know why, but whenever I do purple and yellow eyeshadow together it reminds me of the circus. I think yellow and red would be more fitting, but who knows?
I used:
Diva, by Heavenly Natural Beauty
Lemon Lime Brain Freeze, by The She Space
Awakening, by Pure Luxe (bottom lid)
Mascara is Voluminous by L'Oreal. There's a billion and one hate videos about it on YouTube, but it's always worked really well for me.
Eyehance! (Can you tell I love Cute Overload?)
I thought this used gorgeous colors without being too out there. My issue is that I always want to use crazy bright colors, but keep it wearable. I thought I did a good job.
In other news, yesterday I went to this store called Cosmo Prof. I was lured in by their claims of OPI and China Glaze. When I got there the saleslady glared at me and didn't say hi, even though my friend and I were the only customers in the whole store. She then proceeded to stand a foot away from me the entire time I was looking at polish, totally lurking. I picked out two fabulous OPI's (Merry Midnight and Happy Anniversary, I think), and one of the new holiday China Glaze colors (a gorgeous sparkling emerald green- ok I just looked it up and it's called Emerald Sparkle. lol how fitting). When I went to the counter to pay, she asked for my student I.D. I said I didn't have it with me. Then she asked for my license. I showed her, and she got all pissy and said you couldn't shop there unless you had a cosmetology license. Thanks for telling me AFTER I spent 15 minutes in there and getting all excited T_T Luckily I was able to get Merry Midnight at the mall. I'll have pictures up soon. Now I'm off to browse the OPI and China Glaze websites...

First post! Autumn brown look.
Hi everyone! This is my first post, and I'm pretty excited to be a part of the makeup blogging community. Just to begin I'd like to point something out- while I have around 90 samples, they are all from just 4 companies. I have purchased once from Aromaleigh, once from Heavenly Natural Beauty, and many many times from The She Space and Pure Luxe. I've had fast shipping, great prices, and excellent customer service from all of them. But now that I've started reading some other blogs, I realized there are a lot of great companies I'd like to try! So hopefully I'll order and review from many other places soon. I'd also like to say that I don't just do mineral makeup. If it is a good price and it looks cute, I'll get it. Anyway.
Since it's fall, I decided to do a brown look today.
I used:
Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Mascara (Side note- I heard they're discontinuing Max Factor in the United States? That sucks!)
"Bambie" from Heavenly Natural Beauty
"Nutmeg" from Pure Luxe (This is my favorite color, by the way. It's the perfect shade of brown and gives you a look that is natural but not boring.)
"Chocolate Lover Gone Bad" from The She Space
"Tarnish" from Aromaleigh
I also have been using the Heavenly Naturals eyeshadow primer. It seems to work pretty well for me, but I'd like to try a different primer to compare. If anyone has a recommendation, let me know.
I started light with Bambie, then used Nutmeg for the middle, and Chocolate Lover for the ends of my lids. I used Tarnish on my bottom lids.
The finished result! I usually get complements on my eye makeup, but I had a TON of people notice it today. I was pretty happy. :3 I used four colors, which is actually more than normal. I like to do looks that are vibrant or simple, usually only with 2 colors, sometimes three. It's always good to branch out though!
Side comments about Lancome
A friend of my mom wears all Lancome makeup, a brand I've always wanted to try, but I don't want to pay high prices for makeup. This is why I only order samples (and also because I rarely wear the same color more than a few times). She had an entire bagful of products she has never used, so she gave them to me and my mom. I am in love with their Juicy Tube glosses! They small amazing, and even the ones that look darker work well on my lips (I normally only wear bright pinks). At $18 a tube, it's what I normally call too pricey, but since they look and smell so great, and moisturize my lips like no other, I'd recommend them to anyone. Spring Fling is my favorite.
In the next few weeks I hope to share my reviews on drugstore products, as well as independent company products. I also have a lot of ground to cover with companies that are new to me. Suggestions are welcome. :)
