High Voltage Collection Creation Contest

One of my beloved indie companies, High Voltage, is having an amazing contest where you can come up with your own collection. If you win, Jasmine will make it for you!
I wanted to share this with everyone because I think it's such a cool idea. I'm trying to think of a cool collection so I can enter too ^_^ Since I'm posting about High Voltage I thought I'd also mention, for those of you who don't follow Jasmine on twitter (@ _High_Voltage_), there's a new membership program you can join to get discounts and such. There's also the new Norse Mythology collection. DUOCHROMES! :D I'd love to hear your collection ideas if you feel ok commenting with them. I won't steal them but I can't promise the same of anyone else >.>

EOTD with Aromaleigh Hi-Fi Retro Mattes

Whenever I use AL samples I just get bummed out knowing that when I run out, that is IT sir! The other day Mindy did an awesome look using her Aromaleigh matte shadows, and it inspired me to play around with some of mine today. I just got my MAC Wonder Woman stuff delivered today, and it inspired my look a little bit. The black liner against the yellow shadow reminded me a little bit of comic books, and I used a sheer red gloss to go with it, although it shows up looking pink in the pictures. I'm going to do a full list of products I used, for once! What I used: Eyes- Concrete Minerals Electric Eye Primer Aromaleigh's "Real Gone" on lid Aromaleigh's "Smokin'" in crease High Voltage's "Feel The Heat" to highlight Maybelline "The Falsies" mascara InColor (aka Jordana) FabuLiner in black Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in "Zero" Face- Hard Candy's Sheer Envy Primer Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer Benefit's Erase Paste (under eyes) Revlon PhotoReady Powder (don't really like this much) Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearls (not a fan of this either) Cheeks and Lips- MAC blush in "Mighty Aphrodite" elf blush in "Gotta Glow" Urban Decay Ultraglide lipgloss in "Heat" You can ignore the fact that I got gloss on my teeth... It's been about 10 hours and my eyeshadow still looks awesome. I credit this partially to Concrete Mineral's awesome eye primer, and partly to the staying power of these shadows. I really love how the Mighty Aphrodite blush looks on me- I think it looks really natural, which is funny because I naturally flush a really bright pink. To wrap it up I want to say hi to my new followers! Thanks for stopping by ^_^ I would LOVE to do a giveaway to celebrate +350, but until I find a job I really can't afford to do so. Hopefully I can get one soon so I can do a fun giveaway (and go off my own no-buy, bleh).

Tropical EOTD

The other night I was bored and decided to play around with my makeup a little bit. I really like this look but feel like I have done many very similar to it. Hopefully reorganizing my stash after I move will give me new color combination ideas! SHADOWS I USED: LID: Aromaleigh's "Coney Island" CREASE: Meow's "Torch" INNER V: Fyrinnae's "Banana Mochi" BELOW OUTSIDE OF WATERLINE: High Voltage's "Frostbite" HIGHLIGHT: Hi-Fi's "Hail Ceasar" (this always shows up so brown in photos but it isn't!)

Matte green EOTD

I'd been itching to play with mattes for a while, so yesterday I gave it a shot. I was amazed at the staying power of the colors I used, it seems like matte colors last better than their frosty/shimmery/glittery friends. By the time I had them on for about 10 hours, they still looked as bright as they did when I first applied. I had my makeup on for a total of 16 hours, and these really STAYED the whole time. What I used: Concrete Minerals eye primer Slimy, by Detrivore (inner lid) Seaweed/431 by Beauties Factory (outer lid) Banana Taffy, by Suds N Sass (crease) Feel the Heat, by High Voltage (highlight) Jordana Fabuliner in black Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Zero Maybelline Falsies Mascara Covergirl Liquiline Blast pencil in Green Glow (under waterline) I really loved how the mattes looked. I just ordered a sample set of the Aromaleigh Hi-Fi Mattes collection, so I'm excited to test out those. I'd also like to try out more of the gorgeous mattes from Beauties Factory.

Some EOTDs from this week

I feel lame for not posting since Monday, but as I said in my last post, work is kinda killing me here. It's my day off though, so after I post this I'm going to go back to sleep, SLEEP IN, and then watch movies all day :) I did this look a few days ago, and it's one of my favorites I've ever done, so I'm bummed the pictures didn't turn out a little bit better. What I used: Concrete Minerals primer Pixie Epoxy Frostbite, by High Voltage (inner lid) Land Serene, by Hi Fi (outer lid) Sun N Clouds, by Stardust (crease) Mornings of Gold, by Hi Fi (highlight) Collection 2000 Glam Crystals liner in Pow! 10 Jemma Kidd liner in Style Icon (waterline) Barry M metallic liquid liner in gold (below waterline) Maybelline Falsies mascara, then L'Oreal Extra Collagen mascara e.l.f. all over color stick in Pink Lemonade (blush) Boots no 17 lip glaze in Remember Me (thanks Lillian!) Today since I was already using 2 Sleek products, I just decided to use a lot of nice products I have from the UK thanks to Rachel and Lillian :) What I used: Concrete Minerals primer Sleek Circus palette (matte pink and lavender shades, white to highlight) Sleek Kajal liner in Odyssey Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara Rimmel liner in black The lavender did not want to show up in the pictures, my whole lid looks pink when really it has a lot of lavender. This reminds me of the MAC Azalea Blossom blush. I have a question for you guys, would you like or dislike a post of lots of non makeup related personal stuff? I would show you pictures of my 10,000 pets, songs I've been listening to lately, stuff like that. Tell me yay or nay in the comments! Hopefully I'll post again later today, I have some awesome colors to swatch from you. From where? It's a surprise :) ETA: Has anyone shopped with All Cosmetics Wholesale? They have a lot of lovely things at great prices, but I'd like to be assured it's legitimate.

EOTD inspired by Blix

As you all know by now, sometimes I am lazy and unoriginal and want someone to give me my makeup ideas instead of thinking of them myself. So here is my look today, inspired by one from Blix. What I used: UDPP Pixie Epoxy Pink Heels, by High Voltage (lid) Putrefaction, by Detrivore (liner) Tell Me Lies, by Hi Fi (highlight) The Fancy Lad, by Fyrinnae (under waterline, it doesn't show up very well in the pictures) NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (inner v) Rimmel eyeliner in Very Violet (waterline) Urban Decay Lingerie eyelash primer Prestige My Biggest Lashes mascara Tart blush by Sassy Minerals Coraline's Kiss lipstick, by Morgana Minerals Physician's Formula RX Undereye Concealer Revlon PhotoReady translucent finishing powder The above picture was slightly photoshopped to try and make the colors look more true to life. I love the purple and peach combo! I also ADORE the Coraline's Kiss lipstick. Melissa from Morgana Minerals saw my comment on Lillian's blog about how I wanted to try a sample, so she sent me a sample of this and 2 other lipsticks, and an eyeshadow sample. Isn't that sweet? It's things like that which make me really admire a company's customer service- that's going above and beyond what I expect. She even sent me out an email the day she shipped my samples, as if I had paid for an order. Morgana Minerals will have some new shadows and glosses coming out this month, which I'm super excited to try! How has your April Fool's Day been? I went to google this morning and totally fell for it... I was still sleepy you guys! A lot of the blogs have been doing April Fool's posts, I'm proud to say I have only fallen for was this. Have you gotten tricked today? Any great customer service stories to share?

High Voltage Cosmetics Review

Let me just start off by saying I couldn't remember if I got free samples with this or not. Obviously, that's info I want to include, so I hunted around in my disgusting room which I SWEAR I will actually clean this weekend (yeah right) to find the invoice. I couldn't find it, so I even searched through my nasty trash, just because I love you guys so much. Well, I had an email invoice too. Obviously. Gross. And I just looked at their website, which says right on the front page that all orders get samples... geez. *_* The High Voltage Cosmetics website was super easy for me to order from. All the different categories are listed on the left sidebar, so it's really clean and simple. I ordered 11 eyeshadow samples, and one full size blush. I really like how the eyeshadows are listed so that you can click on them and add a sample size to your cart. I've been getting really sick of having to type out all the samples that I want when I order from someplace. They also have a page (under "sample lot") where you can order 20 eyeshadows for $14.50. It has 20 spaces, each with a drop down menu of all the colors in alphabetical order so you don't have to keep typing everything out. I like it! Samples were $1, and the blush was only $4 for the full size. A matte eyeshadow is $5.25 for a full size, and a shimmer in full size is only $3.50! These prices are great, they remind me of Evil Shades because you get so much product for such a low price. So, right off the bat, High Voltage was really appealing. They also have lip stuff, solid perfumes, a mineral eyeliner, some brow powders, a shimmer dust, an eyeshadow base, and a black creame shadow. Next time I order I'd like to try some of the lip products and the shimmer dust, and review the eyeshadow base. Swatches! With the macro setting on since I learned about it:P From left to right: Tree Hugger, Iron Butterfly, Ziggy Stardust, Totally Rad, Cocktail Party, Frostbite Do you love the goosebumps I have in all my swatch picture? Oh gosh, don't look at my gross room:P The greens all have this sort of sheer quality to them, I would recommend using them over a white base. Cocktail Party and Frostbite aren't as similar as they look in the pictures. Frostbite is for sure one of the best blues I have! More swatches. From left to right: Feel the Heat, Pink Heels, Just a Girl (free sample), Cupid's Arrow, Alter-Ego (free sample), High Voltage, Secrets & Lies You can barely see Feel the Heat, because it's a pale skin toned matte. I've been using it as a highlighter almost every day. If you only order one thing, order a full size of High Voltage! I didn't like the website picture that much, but figured it must be a good one since it's their namesake. I want to get a full size now, it's such a unique blue- somewhat metallic. You really can't tell until you swatch it! Pink Heels also surprised me. It looks like a peachy pink in the bag, but on my skin it was a bright neonish pink/coral. Very cool. I LOVE the blush I got, Hookin' Up. Supposedly it's a NARS Super Orgasm dupe, but I wouldn't know as I'm never going to pay $25 for a blush. Except I really want the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Nectar! It's $45 effing dollars, but isn't it gorgeous? Sorry for the mini ramble! The pictures are not as good as I would have liked, I couldn't capture it perfectly. The swatch of Pink Heels in the fourth photo is pretty close to what it looks like. It has pretty golden shimmer in it. The first swatch is using an eyeshadow brush, and the second is blended a little bit with a blush brush. I love it, but honestly I haven't yet tried a blush I didn't like... I always get peachy pink colors that are pretty similar, no matter where from. Here is a quick look I did today using High Voltage. I think I look really goofy in them, I just couldn't get a good one! I'm wearing Alto-Ego in the inner lid, Ziggy Stardust in the middle, and Secrets & Lies on the outer lid, as well as the Hookin' Up blush. Feel The Heat is my highlighter. I used NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk as a base for the shadows. So, as you can tell, High Voltage cosmetics has really impressed me! I'd love to try more samples not just in my typical color range, as well as the lippies, shimmer dust, and the eyeshadow base. I totally recommend this company, they have gorgeous, unique colors that are totally not repackaged. Go! Order now! :D EDIT: I just now took this stuff off after wearing for 12 hours. True I had on UDPP, but this has stayed like no other brand I've tried before. These shadows will not budge. The color was still as vibrant as when I put them on, seriously! No creasing, fading, anything. Color me very impressed.

Neutralish EOTD

I say Neutralish because I feel like there is no such thing as a neutral with Aromaleigh! When I think neutral, I think boring. There are no boring Aromalrigh colors. It's the only place I order a lot of non brights from, because even colors I would typically consider "dull" are just beautiful. Moth is a browny grey, with an amazing green interface that only shows up when it hits the light just right. Totally grab a sample ;] What I used: Detrivore eyeshadow primer Moth, by Aromaleigh (inner lid) Brianna, by Aromaleigh (outer lid) Oh Precious Patience, by The She Space (crease) Feel the Heat, by High Voltage (highlight) NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (inner v) Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (waterline) NYX eye pencil in Acid Green (under waterline) Urban Decay Lingerie lash primer mark scanda-lash mascara Revlon Colorstay under eye concealer Revlon PhotoReady translucent finishing powder mark blush in After Glo NYX lipstick in Georgia mark luxe gloss in Pearl Luxe What is up with the mascara in that picture... anyway. I really like the new Revlon PhotoReady face powder I've been using. I always try to keep my face as matte as possible, because I usually feel like I can't pull off the "dewy" look. I think this keeps shine on my face without making me look oily, so I really like it. Downside to this powder is the cost: $11 is a huge leap up from the $4 Covergirl stuff I was using. Drugstore makeup is getting pricey these days! Also, it has a weird smell, like a bathroom that's just been cleaned with a floral cleaner... I don't know how to describe it. I think it makes my skin look really nice though, so the pros outweigh the cons. HKOTD! Trash can! 16th birthday gift :] That's my 2009 calender next to it... too cute to throw away. Oh, and in case there's someone who hasn't seen this article from anyone else's blog... here. I've already left my pissy comments about it on other people's blogs, you can rant here if you want. :P

MAIL HAUL!

I got 4 packages in the mail today! From Avon/mark Aromaleigh High Voltage Cosmetics and Cherry Culture! These pictures are pretty lame colorwise, everything looks a lot brighter irl. The L.A. Colors due, though, actually looks like that, definitely NOT like the picture on the Cherry Culture site *sigh* Hmm... nope. I also wanted to show you my nails, using Wet N Wild's "Rain Check" which I got for 99 cents :) I used a coat of CG's Matte Magic on top. It's grey, it's blue! I love it! PS, I know the yellow is dirty! It's not my carpet, but the towel I keep under my makeup area to try and stop ruining the carpet ;] I was going to take pictures of my whole Hello Kitty collection and post it, but I decided I'm going to do a Hello Kitty of the Day instead! I don't think showcasing some of my weirder things individually will make me look like any less of a loony, but it'll be more fun! Here are some knee socks my friend Emily just picked me up. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can wear them with a cute little skirt! I hope everyone's week is going well.
