Today I thought I'd try out a few colors that I've never used, and do a matte look. I was glad the few matte shades I have were orange/red/maroon types, because I really wanted to use a maroon color today.
What I used:
Concrete Minerals eyeshadow primer
Cat's Pajamas, by Aromaleigh (inner lid)
Train Wreck, by Aromaleigh (outer lid)
Nymph, by Detrivore (crease)
Sand, by Aromaleigh (highlight)
Maybelline Falses Mascara
UD Liner in Lucky (upper lid)
Rimmel black liner
L'Oreal HiP taupe-colored cream crayon (below waterline)
NYC blush stick in Big Apple Blush (love this!)
mark glow baby glow luxe gloss in Lucky
I'm not going to list face products I use anymore because it's boring. I feel like I had a bunch of other stuff I wanted to say, but I can't remember any of it now, so I guess I'll just edit this if I do!
Edit: Ok, one already. I deleted my Twitter, it very quickly lost it's appeal for me. Sorry ladies!
I say Neutralish because I feel like there is no such thing as a neutral with Aromaleigh! When I think neutral, I think boring. There are no boring Aromalrigh colors. It's the only place I order a lot of non brights from, because even colors I would typically consider "dull" are just beautiful. Moth is a browny grey, with an amazing green interface that only shows up when it hits the light just right. Totally grab a sample ;]
What I used:
Detrivore eyeshadow primer
Moth, by Aromaleigh (inner lid)
Brianna, by Aromaleigh (outer lid)
Oh Precious Patience, by The She Space (crease)
Feel the Heat, by High Voltage (highlight)
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (inner v)
Covergirl eyeliner in brown black (waterline)
NYX eye pencil in Acid Green (under waterline)
Urban Decay Lingerie lash primer
mark scanda-lash mascara
Revlon Colorstay under eye concealer
Revlon PhotoReady translucent finishing powder
mark blush in After Glo
NYX lipstick in Georgia
mark luxe gloss in Pearl Luxe
What is up with the mascara in that picture... anyway. I really like the new Revlon PhotoReady face powder I've been using. I always try to keep my face as matte as possible, because I usually feel like I can't pull off the "dewy" look. I think this keeps shine on my face without making me look oily, so I really like it. Downside to this powder is the cost: $11 is a huge leap up from the $4 Covergirl stuff I was using. Drugstore makeup is getting pricey these days! Also, it has a weird smell, like a bathroom that's just been cleaned with a floral cleaner... I don't know how to describe it. I think it makes my skin look really nice though, so the pros outweigh the cons.
HKOTD!
Trash can! 16th birthday gift :] That's my 2009 calender next to it... too cute to throw away.
Oh, and in case there's someone who hasn't seen this article from anyone else's blog... here. I've already left my pissy comments about it on other people's blogs, you can rant here if you want. :P
I got 4 packages in the mail today!
From Avon/mark
Aromaleigh
High Voltage Cosmetics
and Cherry Culture!
These pictures are pretty lame colorwise, everything looks a lot brighter irl. The L.A. Colors due, though, actually looks like that, definitely NOT like the picture on the Cherry Culture site *sigh*
Hmm... nope.
I also wanted to show you my nails, using Wet N Wild's "Rain Check" which I got for 99 cents :) I used a coat of CG's Matte Magic on top.
It's grey, it's blue! I love it! PS, I know the yellow is dirty! It's not my carpet, but the towel I keep under my makeup area to try and stop ruining the carpet ;]
I was going to take pictures of my whole Hello Kitty collection and post it, but I decided I'm going to do a Hello Kitty of the Day instead! I don't think showcasing some of my weirder things individually will make me look like any less of a loony, but it'll be more fun! Here are some knee socks my friend Emily just picked me up. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can wear them with a cute little skirt!
I hope everyone's week is going well.
5. e.l.f. Candy Shop Lip Gloss in Mocha Maniac
I got this in a set of 3 sliding gloss tins at Big Lots for $2.50 a couple weeks ago.
I really hate coffee smells but for some reason I love this.
4. mark juice gems in Honeydew Melon
It smells EXACTLY like honeydew melon, I swear. I love melon scented glosses, and this is the strongest and most true of all the ones I have.
3.Any e.l.f. tube glosses from Target
They all have a really sweet, candy scent to them. This may not appeal to everyone, but I love it.
2. Jelly Pong Pong lib sorbet in Blood Orange
I really don't like anything orange scented, but I guess blood orange smells a lot different than a typical orange (I've never tried one). I'm sitting here sniffing this one over and over right now, it smells so good.
1. Evil Shades lip gloss in Lethal Kiss
I don't even know what words to use to describe this because it is so darn amazing and unique :) If you ever get just one thing from Evil Shades, it has to be this amazingly delicious gloss.
What glosses do you think smell delicious?
My mom got me some NARS eyeshadow for my stocking when she went to Sephora. I feel so sophisticated and fancy now! All my designer stuff has been given to me, I'm too money-concious to buy it myself. Right now my best friend is in NYC, and she is going to get me my Christmas gift from Sephora. :P I wanted to try out my new Sassy stuff, so here's a EOTD.
What I used:
NARS eyeshadow in Silent Night (lid)
Risk Taker, by Sassy (lid eyeliner)
Covergirl eyeliner in grown black (waterline)
Glass House, by Sassy (under waterline)
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara
mark lip gloss in Lucky Luxe
The All Natural Face blush in Terra Cotta
Here are my nails with a China Glaze Khrome color, Hi-Tek. The picture is not the best, but I think it gets the color right. In the lighting right now, the shine almost seems pink, but that may just be the lights off of the Christmas tree.
Tonight my family went out to dinner without me, because I didn't have time to go eat with them before I had to go to work. About 40 minutes after they left, my manager called me and said I didn't have to work tonight, but I should come anyway because there was a lot of food people brought in. I ate dinner at work. I really love my job so much. You wouldn't think of Arby's as so great, but I work with awesome people, who are so nice and generous. Because of them, I didn't eat dinner alone this Christmas Eve. :) Having a job I truly enjoy is one of the best gifts I could ask for. I have very bad anxiety problems, and driving to work without that feeling of panic, and having a generally calm shift is really helpful. My job means a lot to me.
So does my boyfriend, who I've been dating for almost a year now, who loves me so much. We're going to college together so we don't have to be apart. He has a lot of shit he deals with and I'm so thankful he still has so much love in his heart for me. I love him so much.
I just wanted to share that, and I hope everyone thinks of the non-material gifts as just as, if not more important, than the material ones. Merry Christmas. :)
Yesterday I got 4 packages! I was so freaking excited. One was the Avon stuff I had ordered just the morning before! I also got some cd's I ordered, and packages from The All Natural Face and Sassy Minerals.
First I want to talk about mark by Avon... I am so in love. I am all ready to order more gloss tomorrow. It is SO GREAT. I got 2 juice jems (they were buy 1, get 1 free), in Honeydew and Mango Tango. Honeydew is like my beloved Lancome Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling, except Honeydew has pink sparkles. :) The juice jems appear to be mark's version of the Lancome juicy tubes... and I'd much rather spend $6 than $18 for gloss, so mark wins! They smell delicious too.
The other cool thng about a lot of the mark stuff is that lots of the products are the right size to fit into a connector, which is free is you get 2 "hook up" products. I'm deff. going to use this for complimentary gloss colors! I have 2 in a connector in the picture above. I got their lip plumping gloss in the color Swank, which is super pretty, but has a really weird smell that I don't like. :/ I need to try it with a clear gloss on top to try and cover up the smell. I also got their luxe gloss in Lucky, which is my new FAVORITE GLOSS OF ALL TIME. It is sooo pretty and sparkly! Here's a blurred picture so you can see the shimmer.
From pictures I've seen of the MAC Dazzleglass, the luxe glosses by mark look similar. And again.. $5.50 beats $21, mark is totally sucking me in! I want to order soooo many more of their gorgeous glosses.
I ordered a hydration mist from The All Natural Face, here is the picture off of their etsy.
I'll have to use this a few times before I can share my opinion. There was no invoice, but it did come with a business card and some coupons.
They also sent me two blush samples, something which I think is supposed to be a glow powder, and some lip plumping stuff with an applicator brush. I haven't used it yet, but it smells GOOD, like cinnamon. After seeing on Grey's post on the eyeshadows which matched TKB, I was dubious, but it really seems like all the free samples I got were nice and original. I would like to order some eye colors and see what I think.
I'll discuss my Sassy Minerals package when I review them.
